It’s been 15 years since No Paraderan was created and the scandal of the premiere at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris is still relevant. For many people who attended the performance, the play has something mythical about it. For the company it was the beginning of the end. Many theaters turned their backs afterwards and a few years after No Paraderan the members of the company separated.

I confess I still do not understand why this particular piece caused such violent reactions; my memories are like crumbs of a puzzle, but I feel that the time has come to take the tuxedos out of the closet (hoping the moths did not get the upper hand) and present No Paraderan today for him give the consideration it deserves. It does not matter to me that a play is surrounded by mystery or scandal, my greatest satisfaction would be to be able to consider this work as a worthy witness of an era, a glimpse behind the stage curtain of our societies, a stealthy look in the mirror of contemporary dance.

I will stage No Paraderan as it was in 2004 with almost all the interpreters of the time. See you in January 2020 at the Amandiers de Nanterre.

Ça fait 15 ans que No Paraderan fut créé et le scandale de la première au théâtre de la Ville à Paris est encore d’actualité. Pour pas mal de gens qui ont assisté à la représentation, la pièce possède quelque chose de mythique. Pour la compagnie ce fut le début de la fin. Beaucoup de théâtres nous ont tourné le dos par la suite et quelques années après No Paraderan les membres de la compagnie se sont séparés.
J’avoue ne pas encore comprendre pourquoi cette pièce en particulier causa de telles réactions violentes ; mes souvenirs sont comme des miettes d’un puzzle, mais je sens que le temps est venu de ressortir les smoking de l’armoire (en espérant que les mites n’aient pas eu le dessus) et présenter No Paraderan aujourd’hui pour lui donner la considération qu’elle mérite. Ça m’est égal qu’une pièce soit entourée de mystère ou de scandale, ma plus grande satisfaction serait de pouvoir considérer cette œuvre comme un digne témoin d’une époque, un aperçu derrière le rideau de scène de nos sociétés, un regard furtif dans le miroir de la danse contemporaine.
Je remonterai No Paraderan telle qu’elle fut en 2004 avec presque tous les interprètes de l’époque.
